Dwight Shook of Taylorsville announced his candidacy for the NC House of Representatives in the 94th District comprising Alexander County and part of Wilkes County. As a Christian conservative, he has served the Republican party as precinct vice chair, secretary, and Chairman. His service to the citizens of Alexander County has been on several local boards as well as on the North Carolina Agricultural Finance Authority.

Dwight serves as his church Sunday School Superintendent and is a licensed real estate broker. Shook studied finance during his doctoral studies, an MBA in international business, a graduate certificate in finance, a bachelor’s, and associate degree in business administration. Dwight is a business professor at Montreat College and Lenoir-Rhyne University and is a business counselor at Mitchell Community College. Shook stated that he will represent the strong Christian conservative values of the people of Alexander and Wilkes Counties. As a business owner himself, he understands the importance of business and industry to the local economy and will work to attract more businesses to provide jobs for the area. Dwight Shook supports the Constitutional Second Amendment rights, and lowering taxes, not raising them. Dwight and his wife Holly have two grown children and reside in Taylorsville.
